FLIGHT SCHEDULES RESTORED

Flight operations at SAA, Mango, Comair and Kulula are expected to return to normal today after several planes were grounded yesterday due to maintenance irregularities found by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) at SAA’s aviation maintenance unit.

The regulator said it had accepted a corrective action plan from SAA’s maintenance unit and that SAA and Comair’s decision to “self-ground” some aircraft was a precautionary measure.

The Minister of Transport noted in his press briefing that flight schedules should be back to normal before the end of the week and that the action taken by the SACAA was precautionary.
