Fancourt Newsflash – 29 October 2018

THE FIRES ON THE OUTENIQUA PASS CLOSE TO GEORGE

As you will have read or heard on the news, sadly the fires on the Outeniqua Pass made it necessary to close this access to the town of George.  Fortunately, however, there is no reason for alarm or panic either on Fancourt or the town itself, other than that we have recommended that guests keep their windows closed to avoid smoke and ash from the fire accessing their room/suite.

A backburn was implemented yesterday from the railway line up the Outeniqua mountain towards the fire line, and ground teams are in place to monitor suppressing the fire.  We are confident that this will be under control soonest.

On behalf of both Fancourt and The Manor House, I would like to reassure all members of the Fancourt family that our team is taking every possible step to manage the situation at hand and ensure a positive outcome.  We are fully dedicated to meeting the high standards with which Fancourt has come to be known and are doing all we can to ensure business as usual.

The welfare, happiness and confidence of Fancourt’s guests, residents, staff, stakeholders, golf members and partners remain primary commitment at this challenging time.

An update of the situation can be followed on our Facebook page; however should any support be required, kindly contact a member of the Fancourt team for assistance.

Kind Regards

Georgie Davidson (Mrs)
Chief Executive Officer
